Traditional alphanumeric passwords are often the weakest link in modern security systems. They're vulnerable to brute-force attacks, dictionary lookups, phishing, and spyware. LockPic addresses this with a visual-first approach to authentication.
Replace passwords with icon sequences
Instead of entering a text-based password, users interact with a series of icons to authenticate. This prototype explores how icon-based sequences can replace or complement conventional password fields.
Scale complexity through icon variation
The initial prototype uses 12 icons, each available in two instances, with a 4-icon password sequence. As icon count and password length increase, the number of secure combinations grows exponentially—supporting scalability for higher-security use cases.
